KLSE Stock News- Bursa Malaysia Stocks Shares Opens Lower On Tuesday

Kuala Lumpur: Bursa Malaysia share prices opened lower on Tuesday with the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index down 11.24 points to 1,684.90 at 9.02am.The trading volume was 96.62 million lots worth RM42.22 million. There were 90 gainers, 465 losers and 188 counters unchanged.

Blue chips fell in early Tuesday trade. Asian shares crash after a flight in tech stocks put Wall Street to the sword while dropping seen in oil prices. Due to political risks in Europe pushed the dollar to 16-month highs as investors dumped riskier assets.

Stock To Watch

Among the KLSE loser Stock KESM and MPI fell 30 sen each to RM10.44 and RM12.10 while Vitrox lost 18 sen to RM7.52. IOI Corp lost 16 sen to RM4.33 after the weak first quarter results. The plantation group dropped 14 sen to RM4.35. IHH Healthcare shaved off seven sen to RM4.60, TNB fell eight sen to RM14.76, and Axiata slid five sen to RM3.47.

The KLSE stock gainers are, MISC advanced five sen to RM6.70, Nestle grew 10 sen to RM144 and Petronas Gas put on two sen to RM18.78.

Among the KLSE active stock, Securemetric, which debuted on the ACE Market and piled on the gains. The stock was 30.5 sen higher at 55.5 sen with 115.49 million shares traded. The other active counter were Sapura Energy, slipping 0.5 sen to 37.5 sen and Hibiscus dropping two sen to RM1.10.

Global Market

The Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan dropped 1.7% to a 1-1/2 week trough, with Australian shares sinking 1.6%. Japan’s Nikkei dived 3.1%. The Hang Seng index open down with 0.44% while STI index down 0.67%.

Forex Market

In currencies, the ringgit was 0.1% lower against the US dollar at 4.1925. It stood at 4.1940/1970 versus the greenback from 4.1860/1900 at the close yesterday.

Against other major currencies, the ringgit traded mostly lower, except against the euro, where it rose to 4.7090/7128  from 4.7113/7175 at the close yesterday.

It fell against the Singapore dollar from 3.0265/0299 to 3.0293/0319, declined against the Japanese yen 3.6739/6780  to 3.6903/6936 from, and was lower versus the British pound from 5.3765/3833 to 5.3926/3969.

Commodity Market

US light crude oil fell 82 cents to US$59.11 and WTI crude slid 78 cents to US$59.15 a barrel while Brent crude fell 70 cents to US$69.42 a barrel.
