When You Face Issues With Winload.exe in Windows Vista

If you have been using Windows Operating System for quite sometime now, you must have found several types of Disk arrays. You may have noticed Windows users making more than one Hard Disk partition. Winload.exe is the OS boot loader and is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. It loads the OS kernel and device drivers at the Windows start-up. Any issue with winload.exe leads to problematic booting and your partition data becomes completely inaccessible.

Windows recovery software may help you in retrieving the lost or inaccessible data back. Before that, you may try some general trouble shoot methods to resolve the issues and make your system get going again.

You may follow these steps to fix the above mentioned issue -
• Boot the computer with Windows Vista CD
• Enter the Recovery Console
• In the command prompt run 'fixboot' and 'fixmbr'
• Restart the computer

Note: 'Fixboot' command writes a new partition boot sector to the system parition. 'Fixmbr' writes a new Master Boot Record to the hard disk drive, specified by you.

If the issue does not get fixed using the above mentioned resolution steps, you need to format the hard disk. This will erase all data from hard disk and you may need a data recovery software to recover data back.
