I am in a rental car because my car got scratched. It is my first time using Carplay and I love it.

What I love the most is the fact that it doesn’t use Bluetooth. Instead even if you have bluetooth on, it switched it off. When its connected via the usb cable, it not only charges but shows things that are on the screen of the Phone.

I used Apple Maps to get home and it worked. I listened to music from Tidal and that worked great as well. I even took two phone calls and put the first on hold automatically. It was very smooth.

It didn’t crash, it didn’t slow down, it just worked. It was nice while it was operating. I didn’t have to look at the phone once. With the touch screen it was very natural to use. My car has a pointer that makes it awkward to use the interface. I hate the system. I would much rather use a touch screen.

Another nice thing about carplay is that when you start the car it shows in the display to activate. So you just plug in your phone, and then touch the button the screen and its ready to go. This is easier than with bluetooth. Bluetooth often doesn’t find it, or it is off, or some other issue. This system just always worked.

I thought I was happy with my current car, but having driven this car and experienced the carplay system it is really a nice thing. Nice enough to buy a new car? I don’t know. It is nice to have a paid off car, but it is also nice having a car that makes things easier.
