A surprise gift makes my coworker cry

You can find ways to make people feel special and important, you just have to be open to them.

I was helping a Coworker once and overheard another coworker complain that she wasn’t going to get any flowers for Valentines. She was really feeling bad about it, and I could tell it made her feel depressed and question her self-esteem. She also complained about how silly men are and a bunch of different topics. I did my job and left.

I went to lunch and was headed back to work when I was asked to return to that place and do something else. I had an idea and went for it, and then returned. When I saw her I gave her flowers and when she looked surprised I told her “Some handsome man outside told me to give them to the cashier.” She smiled and asked what he looked like and then started to cry because she felt special.

My dear reader, I had no designs on this woman. I didn’t know who she was from Adam. What I knew is that someone was feeling depressed and there was something I could do about it. Maybe her boyfriend will say he did it. Maybe he won’t. Either way she felt good about getting flowers. Is there a chance this might be misunderstood? Yes, there is always a chance when you do something kind. If I am asked for the truth, I will say the truth. That I felt bad that she was feeling bad and I bought the flowers to cheer her up.

Anytime you do something nice there is a risk. Yes, it cost a little bit of money but I don’t care about money. If my presence in someones life helps them to have a better life, then I am glad to be able to make a positive difference. Sometimes my gifts have been refused. I totally accept and move on. Not everyone accepts a Gift gracefully, and I don’t have any goal or purpose other than kindness in what I do. If it is not perceived that way, I apologize and move on.

All the time I was there she loved the flowers. She cried, and she was smiling and she felt good. Maybe her boyfriend will benefit, and maybe this will be an opportunity for them both to grow. No matter, I felt good that in some small way I made her day better.
