Amerimar Enterprises and Hunter Newby have begun work on the Redevelopment of 1102 Grand, Kansas City’s carrier hotel. The partners acquired the building back in October 2012 and seek to reinforce it’s position as the pre-eminent carrier hotel in the region.

The partnership’s master plan for redevelopment has commenced with a complete overhaul of the electrical and Cooling infrastructure, which is designed with a focus on cutting-edge, redundant technology. The overhaul will begin with adding two additional two-Megawatt generators and simultaneously increasing the incoming electrical service at the property by 66% to 5 MVA. The cooling system will be updated to include significant capacity increases, as well as redundancy at each level from origination to delivery.

During the redevelopment process, the building will also undergo a full façade repointing and selective replacement and resealing of windows. These improvements will further secure the building envelope and eliminate potential points of intrusion that could potentially compromise data center operations. The building management systems will upgraded to monitor all security, fire alarm, fire suppression, cooling and power

systems from one central command center and will be able to be accessed remo

tely. Along with improvements to the infrastructure of the

building, the support team at 1102 Grand has nearly doubled in size in order to ensure top-level security.

The redevelopment of 1102 Grand was made possible through the support of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and the leadership of the Planned Industrial Expansion Authority.
