Coalton board cleans up old business in August meeting

COALTON (Heartland Newsfeed) — While there was limited Business discussed in their August 8 meeting, the Coalton Village Board did spent most of their 37-minute session touching up on previously discussed items of business.

Water superintendent Tom Gonet is trying to get a hydraulic system and spreader on the new truck that was purchased with grant money with assistance from USDA Rural Development and Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation. Gonet will seek price quotes and will return to the board with any quotes he receives. He also mentioned about the two boil orders that took place in Nokomis in July, one of which was a major water break late in the month which affected both communities immensely.

Treasurer Sandy Jachino inquired about the village’s insurance, whose monthly premiums keep increasing and will research additional quotes and will return to the board on any quotes she receives from the insurance companies. She added that Patton & Company has completed their audit of the village’s 2017-18 fiscal year financials. Financial statements have been turned in.

Trustee Rod Eller presented the two new signs which are to be installed in Coalton Park. The board discussed where and how they were to be installed.

Trustee Steve Kimbro noted that the roads will need to be dusted.

In other business:

  • Following a quick revision of the July meeting minutes, those minutes were accepted.
  • The water report presented by Gonet was approved.
  • The treasurer’s report and monthly bills were approved.

Having no other items of business being discussed, the meeting adjourned at 7:37 p.m. All members of the village board were present.
