Eastern Raj gets mild showers

Jaipur: In its final spell, the south-west monsoon brought mild to moderate showers at many places in the state on Saturday. Majority of the places in eastern Rajasthan witnessed drizzles and mild showers which guided the mercury to take a dip. However, at least 12 districts are still in the rain deficit category in the state.

Cloudy conditions prevailed in Jaipur, Ajmer, Bharatpur and Kota divisions of the state on Saturday where mild to moderate showers were recorded. Rajakhera (Dholpur) got 30 mm rain, the highest in the state. Likewise, Shahpura, Behror, Sawai Madhopur, Bharatpur, Nagar, Deeg, Kota, Jhalwar and Bundi received Rainfall varying from 25 mm to 10 mm.

Jaipur recorded a minimum temperature of 26.5 degrees Celsius, almost two degrees above normal. During afternoon, scattered rainfall was witnessed at various places. The city logged a maximum temperature of 34.8 degrees, almost two degrees above normal. In the evening, mild to moderate showers lashed Kothputli, Dudu, Shahpura and Bassi areas in the outskirts of the city.

Jaipur Met office said that mild showers are likely at some places in eastern Rajasthan and a few places in western Rajasthan over next week.

Met office added that the spell of torrential rainfall was almost over.

Only five districts in the state have got abnormal rainfall, five got excess rainfall, nine got normal rainfall while 14 districts, including Jaipur, have got deficit rainfall.

Churu, Sriganganagar, Bikaner, Nagaur and Hanumangarh remained parched while Barmer, Jalore, Sirohi and Pali got plenty of rain.

Average rainfall in Rajasthan in 2016 was 530.08 mm

Till August 19, the state got 410.40 mm rain, which is 8.71% higher compared to 377.52 mm till August 19, last year.

· 5 districts received abnormal rainfall.

· 5 districts received excess rainfall.

· 9 districts received normal rainfall.

· 14 districts received deficit rainfall.
