Microsoft Surface Pro Arrives in India for a Starting Price of Rs 64,999

After almost a year of its original launch, Microsoft has today launched its hybrid computer — the Surface Pro in India. The two-in-one features Intel’s 7th Gen processors and will go on sale from this month’s 22nd for a starting price of Rs 64,999. The Type Cover and the Surface Pen will be sold separately for Rs 10,999 and Rs 7,999 respectively.

The Surface Pro is an iterative upgrade for the Surface Pro 4 and the build, including the hinge and the connectors, bear a striking resemblance to its predecessor. However, the edges are rounded off and the Core i5 models have apparently shed some weight. That being said, Microsoft has worked on the hinge and the Surface Pro can now handle the extreme tilt angles in a much better manner.

The Surface Pro retains the essentials of being a hybrid ultrabook and the bezels appear to be thinner than its predecessor. The updated Surface Pen costing supports 4096 pressure levels for better usability and it will also come baked in with a tilt detection functionality. Yet another talking point is the upgraded kickstand that will let you use the Surface Pro in a full flat mode (allowing for flatter angles) and this along with the new Surface Pen is expected to help people with the touch input.

The Surface Pro also features a fanless design (except for the i7 variant) and weighs just 767 grams. Of course, that’s without the additional Type Cover. Microsoft promises a battery life of 13.5 hours but that can vary dramatically depending on your use as we’ve noticed with previous generations. The 12.3-inch display has a resolution of 2736 x 1824 (267 ppi) and for the internals, you have a bunch of options. The base variant comes with the Intel Core M3 chipset and the rest are powered by either i5 or i7 SoCs. Other specifications include 4/8/16GB of RAM and 128/256/512GB of SSD storage.

Microsoft has also brought the Surface Arc Mouse in India at a price of Rs 6,399. The Surface Pro will be available in offline as well as online channels including Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance, Vijay Sales, and a few other authorized retailers. Prices and details for all the models can be found in the table embedded above.
