CROMWELL,CT- It was an overcast morning and early afternoon on moving day in Cromwell, CT. However, many players took advantage of the soft conditions. At one point there were four players sharing the lead and nine players within two shots of each other.

Jamie Lovemark had the low round of the day in the early afternoon with a 64. Paul Casey shot a 62 to take the low round on Saturday and the four shot lead heading into the final round.

Jordan Spieth has had a rollercoaster week. He shot a 63 on Thursday, followed by a three over 73 on Friday and a one over 71 today. Spieth hit 9/14 fairways. He is 47^th in strokes gained in approach to the green and 43^rd in putting. He seemed to struggle with his speed on the greens and never adjusted to the wet conditions. Spieth bogeyed 16 after missing the green on the par 3 and bogeyed 18 after failing to find the fairway. He is currently three under for the tournament and T46.

Bubba Watson is a two time champion at the Travelers. Watson hit 6/14 fairways, 15/18 greens and had 30 putts. Coming off of a 63 on Friday Watson kept up his momentum by birding his first two holes. The lefty called his round “pretty solid.”

He bogeyed 16 and 17. Watson called his mistakes on those holes “hiccups” with his shot and club selection. He said that his game plan for Sunday is to, “go out there and play a solid round of golf.” He is currently at 10 under par for the tournament and six shots behind Casey.

Rory McIlroy is first in strokes gained off the tee and in tee to green. However, he is 43^rd in approach to the green and 90^th in putting. The Northern Irishman had a shaky start when he three putted on the first green and missed the fairway on the second hole. After struggling early, McIlroy birdied the 13^th hole and chipped in for eagle on 15. However, he ended his round with another three putt to fall to eight under.

JB Holmes was another player who made a charge on the back nine on Saturday. He made birdies on 11,13 and 15. Holmes holed out from the fairway on the 14^th hole for eagle to play the back nine at five under. He hit 9/14 fairways, 15/18 greens and had 28 putts.

“I’ve really been putting a lot better in the last 3 tournaments,” said Holmes. Holmes said that he needs to be “patient” on Sunday. He explained that if you are, “too aggressive or frustrated you can make some bogeys really quick.”

Brian Harmon hit 9/14 fairways, was first in putting, 30^th in approach but 95^th in strokes gained around the greens. He found trouble on 12 when his approach went long. He was unable to get up and down and dropped a shot. Harmon birdied three holes in a row, including 15 after driving the green. However, he played his last three holes two over par and finished at 11 under and five shots back.

Jason Day is one of five players at 10 under par. He hit 10/14 fairways, 14/18 greens and had 26 putts. Day is 107^th  in strokes gained off the tee, 35^th in approach, 12^th around the greens and 2^nd in putting. “Unfortunately, just didn’t quite get the rolls going,” said Day when asked about is putting performance. He said he needs to “Start pushing” and “getting birdie opportunities” on the back nine on Sunday if he is going to have a chance.

Casey tied his career low of 62 on Saturday to take a four shot lead heading into Sunday. He hit 10/14 fairways, a perfect 18/18 greens in regulation and had 29 putts. He had a four under front nine, followed by another four under back nine which included an eagle on the 15^th hole after he drove the green. He tapped in for birdie on 18 after hitting his approach to two feet.

Casey said he did a lot of work with his swing coach Peter Costas. He said that he texted Costas earlier in the week and said he was struggling with “big pulls.” He felt like his longer clubs were 5-10 yards off line every time. Casey said fixes in his posture and the distance that he was standing from the ball helped his ball striking. He said he played “comfortable” and tried not to “focus on what he told me too much.”

“Clearly whatever he told me worked,” said Casey. He will try to focus on the same details and replicate the round he had today as he heads to the final round with a four shot lead.
