Nadal, Halep win 2018 French Open

Simona Halep of Romania has taken home her first Grand Slam Trophy. The French Open win against Sloane Stephens of the United States ended in a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory on Saturday, June 9, 2018. The win was after three losses in three major finals. The Romanian is the first tennis player from Romania to win a Grand Slam title in 40 years when her manager, Virginia Ruzici won the French Open.

In the Men’s Tournament, Rafael Nadal was victorious over Dominic Thiem from Austria, with a score of 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 on Sunday. The win is Nadal’s 11th French Open Title. The 32 year old Spaniard will continue to hold his position of No. 1. Rafael is known as “The King of Clay” and is widely regarded as the greatest clay-court player in history.
