I really couldn’t have much of a higher opinion of Ricardas Berankis. This boy continues to grow and is now making a statement at a Slam. It is true that he only had to beat a very tired Nalbandian yesterday but he did it in some style. 28 winners to just 12 unforced errors and a 6-1 6-0 2-0 (ret) scoreline. Next he has David Ferrer in what is a mouthwatering contest.
Elsewhere veteran Jan Hernych managed to overcome Thomas Bellucci of Brazil. An excellent tournament from Hernych which no-one can have foreseen as he reached the furtherst point he ever has at a slam. Robin Soderling should stop him in his tracks.
