Recently, if you're a frequent reader, you'll have seen that we had a VERY successful day competing at the PetPlan Area Festival Finals. In the week leading up to the finals, I took time out to watch Louie & mine's first ever dressage test together - it was the first time Louie had ever been in a dressage arena. We'd only been together 3-4 weeks, he was my first ever baby horse, and was a very wobbly and excited 3 year old... I actually wrote a blog about our first dressage party together.
I cannot believe the difference...and not just in how much whiter he has become or how much he has grown!!
Considering our only objective of the day was to work in a new Arena with lots of other horses and other things going on, as well as to get Louie inside the Dressage boards, I was THRILLED to bring home a rosette!! I loved that day with my pony...
After the Final early this month, I had lots of messages and comments from our followers to say how much Louie has come on in the last 6-12 months. His dressage is really starting to step forward and becoming grown up. It's lovely to hear that other people see our progress too...
I hadn't quite appreciated it until we went back to a venue in September that we competed at in the start of January. In January, we headed to West Park Arena following a successful British Dressage outing in December where we won, so I thought at the time, he was going well, but just a bit too spooky and green... We did the same test in September, and I put the two side by side to show the difference.
I'm glad I did as it really showed our progress in such a short space of time.
While I really believe that you shouldn't focus on the past, I think looking back and using what you've already progressed at can really motivate you going forward!
