Inton Bike Lights – Reliable and affordable bike lights

When we went looking for reliable, affordable, and high-quality bike lights, we soon ended up with Inton Lights. Our range of headlights will be augmented initially with 2 of Inton’s good-looking high-power headlights. Renowned brands such as BBB, Lezyne, and Bontrager have been joined by an interesting competitor. Interesting because we didn’t want more of the same in our range, but rather more for less!

Usually around this time of year, many of us realise our current Bike Lights aren’t quite up to scratch, or perhaps some of us don’t yet even own a set of lights. Then there’s a new group of riders each year who discover that riding at night is perfectly feasible, provided you have the right lights and clothing.

Finally, commuters are also an ever expanding group who require proper lights to safely get from home to work and back again each day.

Inton NB-1312, 1000 Lumens in a small package!

We’ve selected 2 different lights by Inton, each with its own intended use. First, there’s the 1000(!) Lumens powerhouse, the Inton NB-1312. This headlight is incredibly compact, particularly considering the level of performance on offer.

We’ve got several 1000+ Lumens headlights in our range, but this one is a little different. We’ve mentioned the highly competitive price. Then there’s the light pattern, which has a very bright core -visible as a rectangular pattern when mounted to your bars- and diffuse light over a wide area.

This makes it ideal for the commuter or road racer, since it doesn’t completely dazzle other road users. Mountain bikers will also love it, but rather as a secondary helmet-mounted light next to a bar-mounted wide beam one.

As a stand-alone light, it’s not quite perfect for a mountain biker since the beam pattern is too narrow. As a supportive helmet light however, it’s perfect since you’re getting a highly focussed beam right where you’re looking!

The connectors and battery have a waterproof finish and the cable is long enough to stash the battery in your jersey or backpack. The battery has a capacity of around 2 hours at maximum light mode. The helmet mount is included as standard.

Inton NB-05, 400 Lumens allrounder

The second addition to our range from Inton is even less expensive: the Inton NB-05. This light too has been fitted with powerful Cree-LED’s.

Despite sharing this technology, the NB-05 has a significantly different light pattern compared to the NB-1312. The light bundle is a lot wider, which is particularly useful in off-road use.

It allows you to look further into a corner while your bars are still pointing straight ahead. This reduces the tunnel-effect you might otherwise experience when riding through the woods in the dark.

It also allows you to relax a little more on the bike. When out on open roads, take other road users into account, especially oncoming traffic. Either lower the intensity or aim the bundle downward more to prevent them from getting blinded by your headlight.

This advice goes for many of the high power LED lights currently available! Finally: respect any local legislation as a mountain biker pertaining to access to the forest and access after sundown.

The battery of the NB-05 is extremely compact, without having to sacrifice battery life. 2 hours at full power certainly isn’t bad! The Lithium Ion battery is housed in a robust and stylish metal cylinder, stashed in a nylon cover. Like with it’s bigger brother, the NB-05 comes with a helmet mount.

Both lights come with a simple but effective bar mount, fitted with 2 sturdy rubber straps (to suit different bar diameters). Is one light not quite enough to suit your needs?

Maybe both together might prove to be useful; the NB-05 on the bars with its wide beam pattern, and the NB-1312 on your helmet to focus the light wherever you’re looking. Overkill? Maybe… But at least nobody can claim you don’t have sufficient lighting on your bike!

So, are you looking for a serious headlight for less than serious money? Inton might have something to suit your needs. If you’re a year-round commuter, check out the Bontrager City Series, the great BBB headlights, or the Lezyne line-up.

Why would you look at these specific lights as a commuter? They are all bright enough to use on bike lanes or lit roads, as well as being USB rechargeable. This makes topping up the batteries a breeze when you’re at home or in the office, without having to bring an additional charger with you.

Or consider the Sigma headlights: not all USB rechargeable, but the PowerLED and Karma both have a massive battery which will last for hours and hours, so you won’t have to recharge them at work. Don’t ride every day, on a smaller budget, or is charging using the proprietary charger not a problem?

Then you could get yourself a great deal with one of the Inton headlights!
