Francis, the cat, is inside “his” cage, lying on his back, his paws up in the air.
He´s singing and waving his legs from side to side.
Cat: I was born on a Monday…
(beat)
Cat (cont.): … and I got married on a Sunday…
Thief #1 and Thief #2 only get: “Miau, Miau, Miau!”
Thief #1: SHUT UP!
Cat (yelling): You shut up!
Thief #2: what is it with that cat?
Cat (still singing): you´re the one who´s crazy…
Raul: psst Francis?
Cat: Raul?
Looks at his rodent friend.
Cat: Raul, you came!
Raul; Crazy cat, you knew we would.
Francis turns to the side and gets up.
Cat: Please be careful though. I heard them saying… (notices the look on Raul´s face)… what?
Raul is distracted and has his nose up in the air.
Behind him, Thief#1 has a large piece of cheese in his hand.
Cat (cont.): Oh no! Raul! Snap out of it!
No use. Raul is enticed by the salty odor emanating from the cheese and can´t resist it.
As Raul follows the path he believes will lead to happiness, Thief #2 catches him off guard and puts a cardboard box over him.
Raul (snaps out of it): hey!
Francis sys in annoyance.
Rafael (flying in/screaming): Bombs away!
He drops something all over Thief #1.
Thief #1 (screaming): OH MY GOD!
Thief #2 (disgusted): Oh God… that´s just…
He waves his hand in front of his nose to show his disgust.
Thief #1 is incredibly angry.
Rafael turns around and comes in for round 2.
Unfortunately for him, Thief #2 is ready for him and manages to capture the bird with a net.
Cat (desperate): Oh no! (screaming) Leave my friends alone you bozos!
Thief #2 shoves Rafael and Raul in the cage next to Francis.
As Thief #1 and Thief #2 look on, proud of themselves, they high five each other.
Rafael and Raul hug each other, fearful.
Thief #2: Now let´s see… (he looks to the sides and smiles).
Suddenly Rafael and Raul un-hug each other.
Thief #1: wait…
Thief #2: what?
Thief #1: a second ago they were terrified.
Thief #2: So?
Thief #1: They stopped.
Thief #2: stopped what?
Thief #1: being afraid.
Thief #2: They´re in a cage.
Thief #1: Look at them.
Thief #1 looks at the rat and the bird.
They are facing the two men.
Thief #1: are they smiling?
Raul (waving): Hi Charlie.
Thief #1: Is he waving?
Thief #2: at us?
Thief #1: No. I think he´s waiving… (looks behind him, swallows in dry) … oh dear God…
Thief #2: what?
Thief #2 turns behind and finds Charlie right in his face.
Charlie: Boo!
Thief #2 (screaming hysterically): Ah…!
He passes out and falls flat on the floor.
Charlie then moves closer to Thief #1.
Charlie: Let my friends go!
Thief #1 takes the key to the locker closing the cage out of his pocket, and opens the door for Raul and Rafael to exit.
Raul (nearing Charlie): How did you do that?
Charlie: No clue.
Rafael: you are one weird snake.
Charlie: I´ll take that as a compliment.
Raul: as weird as it sounds, I think it was.
Rafael: shut up.
Rafael, Raul and Charlie start to laugh.
Cat (annoyed): guys!
Raul: Oh crap! Sorry Francis. We forgot about you.
Cat: gee, thanks…
Charlie (to Thief #1): that one two.
Thief #1 obeys.
Francis comes out of the cage.
Charlie gets dangerously close to Thief #1.
Charlie (menacing): Leave my friends alone!
Thief #1 (scared): we will…
Cat: Thank you.
Charlie: You´re welcome.
Thief #1 grabs Thief #2 and drags him away.
Cat: Thanks guys for coming once again to save me.
Rafael: yes, well…
Raul: shut up Raf! You were worried about him too!
Rafael: no I wasn´t.
Raul: Ha! Ha! Ha!
Rafael (embarrassed): stop laughing!
Cat: thank you Charlie for coming for my help.
Charlie: No problem. Glad I could help.
Cat: how about we go home?
Charlie: Wow, this was fun.
Rafael: great. We had a crazy cat and a crazy rat. Now we also have a crazy snake.
Raul/Cat/Charlie (at the same time): and a crazy bird!
All four of them break out laughing.
As the four of them start to walk home Francis decides to sing.
Cat: I was born on a Sunday….
Raul/Rafael/Charlie: SHUT UP!
Cat (upset): what?
Rafael: you´re an awful singer!
Cat (offended): am not!
Raul: next time we´ll just let them keep you.
Francis looks to the side, pouting.
Charlie breaks out laughing.
Charlie: Ha! Ha! Ha!
Raul and Rafael join him.
Raul/Rafael: Ha! Ha! Ha!
Cat (annoyed): you guys are sucky friends!
Raul/Rafael/Charlie: Ha! Ha! Ha!
