This Might Be the Best Lightning Storm Timelapse Ive Ever Seen

“Transient” is a new short film by storm chaser and timelapse photographer Dustin Farrell. Gathered from hurricane chasing escapades this past summertime, most Lightning footage was captured in uncompressed fresh at 1000 makes per second with a Phantom Flex4K.

Farrell shot whirlwinds for over 30 eras this summer, passing practically 20,000 miles in the process. On Vimeo he includes:

“Lightning is like a snowflake. Every shaft is different. I learned that lightning varies greatly in accelerate. There are some extraordinary glancing shafts that I captivated that didn’t make the cut because even at 1000 fps they only lasted for one frame during playback. I too captured some lightning that appear computer rendered it previous so long on the screen.”
