In a huge gale to Uber in the UK London’s transport regulator has rejected its application to renew its license to operate in the city.
In a statement today TfL said it consider that Uber is “not fit and proper to nursed a Private Hire adventurer licence”.
“TfL’s regulation of London’s taxi and private hire transactions is designed to ensure fare security. Private hire motorists must meet stringent regulations, and demonstrate to TfL that they do so, in order to control. TfL must also be satisfied that business operators is fit and correct to hold a licence, ” it said.
The regulator added that Uber’s “approach and behavior substantiate a lack of corporate responsibility in relation to a number of issues which have possible public safety implications” — including the following issues TAGEND
Its coming to reporting serious criminal offences
Its approach to how medical certifications are acquired
Its approach to how Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service( DBS) checks are find — which relates to carrying out background checks to ensure craftsmen do not have a criminal record
Its coming to interpreting the use of Greyball in London — software that could be used to stymie regulatory bodies from gaining full access to the app and avoid the representatives from attempting regulatory or law enforcement offices
