Nit Sprong (1963-Present) Part 1

                 Nit Sprong (1963-Present) Part 1

1963-1979: In March of 1963, Nit Sprong was born slightly premature and humid. She spent her first few hours in an incubator set on Tumble Dry before being released from the hospital. Also, during the birth, her father's heart stopped twice. The first time it happened, doctors were able to revive him using standard CPR measures. The second time it occurred, however, he required a cash incentive and the promise of Halloween candy before he would come back to life.
By the time Nit was 2 years old, her parents were having serious problems in their marriage. Earlier that year, they lost their jobs at the factory where both of them had worked. The factory made edible American flags in a variety of flavors and, when they first came out, they had been quite popular. In time, though, the flags came to the attention of some U.S. Army veterans in town who began picketing outside the factory chanting "Don't eat my freedom", and "I got all messed up for this?". Soon, edible flags came to be seen as unpatriotic, and their sales dropped off sharply. The factory made a brief attempt to recover by introducing a line of American flag doggie diapers, but that just made matters worse. Eventually, the factory went out of business, but years later it was converted into a miniature golf course built around the theme, "Korean War Fashion Disasters".
Unemployed for the moment, Nit's parents tried to find ways to be useful in the community. For awhile, they volunteered their time with a church group, handing out telephone books and wallpaper to homeless children. Still unfulfilled, they came to the decision that what they really needed was a trial separation. From Nit. The next day, they left Nit in the care of her uncle Dun and aunt Connie, and set off on a journey to find a better life. Although they promised to send for Nit once they were resettled, it would be years before their family was reunited.
