A one-hit wonder is any entity that achieves mainstream popularity and success for a very short period of time, often for only one piece of work, and becomes known among the general public solely for that momentary success. The term is most commonly used in regard to music performers with only one top-40 hit single that overshadows their other work but is not limited to that field, such as having only one successful album with a string of hits. Often acts dubbed “one-hit wonders” in a particular country have had great success in others.
Now without further adieu, check out our groovy list of our favorite 60’s one hit wonders.
20.) The Casinos – Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye
Hold me each evening by your side
Tell me you’ll love me for a million years
Then if it don’t work out
Then if it don’t work out
Then you can tell me goodbye
Soften my dreams with your sighs
Tell me you’ll love me for a million years
Then if it don’t work out
Then if it don’t work out
Then you can tell me goodbye
If you wait a lifetime before you leave
I won’t tell you no
Just so that we can say we tried
Tell me you’ll love me for a million years
Then if it don’t work out
Then if it don’t work out
Then you can tell me goodbye
19.) Crazy Elephant – Gimmie Gimmie Good Lovin’

18.) The Kingsmen – Louie Louie
Catch a ship across the sea
Sail that ship about, all alone
Never know if I make it home
Me gotta go, oh no
Louie Louie, oh baby
I said we gotta go
Think of girl, constantly
On that ship, I dream she’s there
I smell the rose in her hair.
Me gotta go
Aye-yi-yi-yi, I said
Louie Louie, oh baby
Me gotta go
Okay, let’s give it to ’em, right now!
It won’t be long, me see me love
Take her in my arms again
I tell her I’ll never leave again
Me gotta go
Aye-yi-yi-yi, I said
Louie Louie, oh baby
Me gotta go
Let’s take it on outta here now
Let’s go!!
17.) Mark Dinning Teen Angel
That fateful night the car was stalled upon the railroad track
I pulled you out and we were safe, but you went running back
Teen angel, can you see me?
Are you somewhere up above?
And I am still your own true love?
They said they found my high school ring clutched in your fingers tight
Teen angel, can you see me?
Are you somewhere up above?
And I am still your own true love?
They’ve taken you away
I’ll never kiss your lips again
They buried you today
Teen angel, can you see me?
Are you somewhere up above?
And I am still your own true love?
16.) The Troggs – Wild Thing
You make everything groovy, wild thing
Wild thing, I think I love you
But I wanna know for sure
Come on and hold me tight
I love you
You make everything groovy, wild thing
Wild thing, I think you move me
But I wanna know for sure
Come on and hold me tight
You move me
You make everything groovy, wild thing
Wild thing, you make my heart sing
