Kids Halloween Movies From the 80’s and 90’s

Kids today, with their iPhones and their 3D movies! Time was, kids could play outside and get into real adventures, instead of being glued to their myriad gaming devices. Growing up in the 1980’s and 1990’s truly was a golden age for children’s entertainment. Halloween Movies were no exception. We have compiled a list of the top ten Kids Halloween Movies From the Eighties and Nineties that you can share with the youngsters in your life.



Hocus Pocus (1993)
Salem, Massachusetts is a source of national folklore with its colorful history of witch trials that took place during the 1600’s. This extraordinary film follows the story of three witches who steal the lives of children to maintain their own youthful radiance. When a modern day teenager accidentally awakens them from their ancient graves, he and his sister must save the town of Salem from their wicked spells.



The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
This visually stunning animation comes to us from the twisted genius of Tim Burton. The king of Halloweentown, Jack Skellington, has decided that this year they will celebrate Christmas. He goes about playing Santa Claus is a delightfully macabre way that the human world is not ready for.



Ghostbusters (1984)
When their positions as parapsychology professors at a university get terminated, three scientists studying the occult decide to use their knowledge to open their own business eradicating unwelcome spirits. Things get serious when they discover a giant paranormal threat that could wreak havoc on New York City.



The Addams Family (1991)
A morbidly eccentric family celebrates the dark side of life and death, much to the chagrin of their neighbors. The wealth that keeps them in a comfortable lifestyle becomes imperiled when a scheming outsider cons his way into the family under false pretenses.



Beetlejuice (1988)

Based on a book by the incomparable Roald Dahl, this film follows the story of a boy who comes upon a witch convention taking place in the London hotel he is staying. After they turn him into a mouse, this brave young lad must do everything in his power to prevent them from achieving their nefarious schemes.



The Monster Squad (1987)
After discovering an old diary that belonged to a famous vampire hunter, a group of nerdy monster movie fans learn of an evil plot being put into action by Count Dracula. This ancient vampire and his monster pals are planning to take over the world, unless these misfit kids can stop him.



Halloweentown (1998)
Marnie Piper’s grandmother comes to pay a visit on Halloween. She reveals that she is a witch (the good kind) and that she must begin Marnie’s witch training before her 13th birthday, or else the girl will lose her powers forever.
