Removing Spots From Your Carpeting In SW Florida

Specialized Spot Extraction Technique

On average, Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care cleans close to 80 homes per week, and the first thing our technicians ask the client is “are there any spots that are bothering you or seem to come back after you’ve had your carpets professionally cleaned?

Inevitably, the majority of our clients will say that a particular spot keeps coming back or that their Previous Carpet Cleaner told them that a spot is “permanent.”

First, let’s address the two reasons why spots keep returning after your carpeting has been professionally cleaned.

Reason 1: Wicking

Many times, the cause of the spot has seeped into the backing of the carpet. This is common with pet urine, beverages, and anything that is spilled in “volume.”

When something has spilled on your carpeting in a large quantity, the liquids penetrate the carpet backing and reside in the padding where they dry and remain dormant until reenergized with steam cleaning.

When cleaning your carpeting, steam is injected deep in the pile thereby moistening the underlying cause of spots returning.  As the carpeting starts to dry, these residues will rise to the top of the carpet fibers within a week or so, and once again, you have the same spots you had before the cleaning.

When the carpet is cleaned it looks good, when it dries the spots and traffic areas come back.

Reason 2:  Re-soiling

Re-soiling is caused by a sticky residue that has been left behind. The residue may be from the spot itself, a spotting agent the client used in an attempt to remove the stain or the cleaning solution the carpet cleaner used when your carpets were last cleaned.

Some common residue causes are over-the-counter carpet cleaners purchased at the grocery store. Avoid using these cleaners altogether. If you have to use one or you use dishwashing detergent, use as little as possible and rinse with water thoroughly.

Other residue causes would be oily spots. Duct tape residue, body oils, lotions, etc. If all of the oily residues are not removed, they will attract soil as the carpet is walked on. Even a quality professional cleaning may not remove all oily residue the first time.

SPECIAL NOTE: Cheap carpet cleaners use the cheap products that are ineffective at removing deep-set soils and oily residues.  If you’ve ever hired a carpet “cleaner” because they were the cheapest you could find, chances are, spots appeared after “cleaning,” residues from the detergent used were left behind, the carpet fibers were stiff, and the carpeting resoiled rapidly.

Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care’s technicians are trained to ask clients what concerns them about their carpeting and then tailor a custom cleaning around those concerns.

In instances where spots keep returning, our technician will use specialty spotting agents designed to force contaminates that are deep set in the carpet and padding to release where they can be removed by a specialized extraction tool.  We guarantee spot removal and if a spot returns within 14 days of our cleaning, we will return at no extra charge.

Why did my previous carpet cleaner say a “spot was permanent” and your technician was able to remove it?

The answer is simple; they lacked experience, tenacity, and probably certification or specialized training.

Recently we were contacted by a new client and asked to clean her carpeting.  When our technician arrived and was performing a walk-thru to access the carpet needs, the client advised him to “ignore that Kool-Aid stain; my previous carpet cleaner said it is permanent.”

After a few minutes, our technician was able to eradicate the Kool-Aid spot and the client was beyond pleased.  Since the previous carpet cleaner worked for a large national firm, she asked why they would tell her something that wasn’t true.  The answer is Experience!  Their technician didn’t have the training, specialized tools, or proper spotting agents necessary to perform the spot removal.
