When it comes to looking for carpet cleaners in SW Florida you might think it’s just a matter of Googling or looking through a discount coupon book. But, think again!
Choosing who you invite into your home should be more important than a matter of sticking a pin in a name and going with that. If you value your home, and in this case your carpets, upholstery, tile or Oriental area rugs, you need to make certain you pick a tried and trusted company with a reputation for quality and service.
Of course, if quality doesn’t matter, and you’re simply looking for the cheapest clean possible, ignore the rest of this blog.
There are numerous horror stories around, so make sure you do not become one of them. Also, treat “rave reviews” that are not vetted by Angie’s List or the Better Business Bureau with a degree of suspicion. Many “rave reviews” are created by friends and family, company employees and even companies that “produce” reviews for a fee.
What you should be looking for are accreditations and recommendations from national trade associations, friends or family, and trusted sources such as the BBB or Angie’s List.

Many companies use false addresses to deceive potential customers. This is often so that if problems arise you cannot find them or to make themselves appear more professional than they are. Ask to visit their premises. If they refuse this simple request, don’t use them. You don’t actually have to visit if it is too far away, but merely asking the question can weed out some of the unscrupulous ones.
Also be aware of Oriental rug cleaning companies who say rugs are cleaned at their “plant.” We’ve seen many carpet cleaning companies mislead clients, and their “plant” is actually a parking lot or driveway. No certified technicians, no cleaning “plant” no dusting equipment and no bath for the area rugs.
Whether you’re in Lee, Charlotte or Collier County, try to settle on a company that has plenty of in-house knowledge, certifications, good reviews, insurance, and expertise. A company where you will get to talk to a member of management at the conclusion of the work to make sure you are delighted with the outcome. Also, look for a company which offers guarantees in writing should something go wrong or you’re not completely satisfied.
You should also make certain the company you invite into your home is sufficiently insured with liability and Workers Compensation insurance. Liability insurance will protect your home and valuables should a technician damage your property, or worse, have an accident that injures them. If the company fails to have insurance and one of their employees gets hurt on your property, guess who pays? The homeowner!
Also, don’t be lured in by a “cheap” telephone or coupon book quote only to have it doubled, or even tripled, when the cleaner arrives to tell you about all the hidden “extras” they forgot to mention on the telephone such as “deep scrub”.
