Christmas tree legends

There are many Christmas Tree legends, referred to the spirit or to the place where the spirit had been dwelling, also the legends about the Tree of Life and the Tree of knowledge of good and evil.

The hero of the most popular legend became the leader of Germen Reformation – Martin Luther. Once he was going home across a forest on Christmas Eve. The night was starlit and clear. When he had come home he set up a fir for his family and attached many candles to its bushy branches. The lights on the Christmas tree resembled the stars.

There is a legend why we decorate firs with shine silver tinsel.

Long ago a kind poor woman had been living. She had many children. Once on the Christmas Eve she had decorated the fir tree, but there were few adornments. At night many spiders had come to the Christmas tree and while crawling over fir tree’s branches they had leaved web on them. As reward of woman’s kindness baby Christ had blessed the Christmas tree and the spider web turned into sparkling silver.

Merry Christmas, dears!
