First impressions leave a lasting impact on a person. That is true especially when first looking at a House or an industrial building. When people first arrive at a place, they see what is visible to the eye first – the yard and the front of the house or building. Let’s begin with outside of the building or house. One thing that usually is very boring are the building or house numbers. On some buildings or houses, the address is hard to see or is just another a tacky cold metal sign. Throw out those boring old number signs and replace them with more interesting ones. Some buildings especially industrial ones have little to no vegetation outside leaving them looking abandoned and forlorn though inside is a hub of activity. Most building owners lease these and don’t really care about the look of the grounds as long as they’re maintained. If you do own buildings, it’s a good idea to put in low-maintenance trees, shrubs, or flowers. Perennial flowers are excellent to plant as they come back every year and don’t need to be planted again. These will enhance the look of your buildings.
If you have a bathroom, install silver corrugated tin on the walls to give it that industrial look. A sealed shiny concrete sink gives it a chic look. Recycled planks of wood on a feature wall can finish the look.
Don’t throw out those industrial metal drums. Provided they are free from toxic liquids or other materials, paint them and use them. You can paint them black and write cool sayings on it in white lettering. Use them as tables or stands to put decorative items on. You can also clean then, cut them in half sideways, put legs on them, and make a large barbecue out of it.
