There is nothing more annoying than having dirty Worktop. This can make a kitchen look unsanitary, here are some essential ‘need to know’ tips.
About Laminate Worktop Surfaces
Laminate worktop surfaces are water resistant, however, the core material (usually chipboard) and the adhesive aren’t always as resistant. Any cut-outs, edges or joints should be sealed correctly to avoid water damage. If a worktop is cleaned then it should be dried thoroughly to make sure no moisture seeps into the joints, cut-outs or the edges.
Sealing to the wall
When you fit a worktop against the wall there may be a distinct gap between the wall and the worktops. If so then you need to make sure that this is sealed correctly. Use a product designed to last, we recommend one with silicone in.
Avoid Heat
It is true that worktop surfaces can withstand heat, but they can only withstand it to a point. We don’t recommend placing a hot item onto the worktop directly as this can cause the laminate to detach. If you’re going to put something hot on the work surface, then we recommend putting some form of protection on the worktop.
Clean the worktops regularly
Keeping your work surfaces clean and sanitary are things you must do. Organisms such as bacteria can reproduce on the surface if they aren’t keep sanitary. We recommend cleaning the work surface after every use. This will stop bacteria from growing. If you’re going to clean the worktops frequently then using a soft cloth and a mild liquid detergent will do the trick.
Removing Stains
When laminate worktops get stained, nothing is more annoying. If you have stains from tea or coffee, then mix some baking soda and a mild household cleaner together until it makes a paste. Apply this paste to the soiled spot and let it sit for 5 minutes. Once 5 minutes is over rinse the spot with a soft cotton cloth.
