Painted Kitchen Cabinet Doors Replacement

Painted kitchen Cabinet doors replacement options are generally more advisable than extensive makeovers for two basic reasons. One is that kitchen infrastructure is built to last a long time. So, while you might be tired of seeing your cabinet doors in that once great color, the cabinets are still strong. Therefore, you only need to simply change the finish to get a whole new look. Two, it is cheaper to change one part than to change the whole.

Cabinet construction

The basic skeleton for cabinets today is the Medium Density Fibreboard, MDF. This fibreboard is now coated with several finishes with varying strengths, anti-scratching properties, and costs. A well-constructed cabinet will continue to stay parallel and square with use, without the back buckling in. cabinets may be made by custom cabinet makers or by computerized machines that cut large numbers of cabinet shapes. There are two parts of a cabinet that should always be examined. These are the hinges and the drawer runners. Cheaper hinges do not last long and would eventually lead to sagging doors. Poor runners are made of plastic, while better ones are metallic.

Finishes

There are five basic cabinet door finishes. Cost-wise, Melamine is the least expensive. It is a tough colored finish, with edges covered with taped glue. Laminate is glued on board surfaces, are less expensive than Melamine, and are quite a scratch resistant. Laminates are made from paper and resin under high pressure. Vinyl and 2-pack are the high gloss finishes. Although vinyl is relatively new and less expensive than 2-pack, it is not heat-friendly. They are mostly used in designer kitchens. If you are worried about having scratches in your kitchen, consider using satin vinyl, or a textured surface with your Laminate and Melamine finishes. Polyurethane is used as the finish of choice for timber doors.

Kitchen storage

Deciding on the best option for kitchen storage is a mix of your personality and the kitchen’s functionality. If you have limited space, first consider keeping out stuff. Any item that you would not need on a daily basis can be stored elsewhere. Cabinet layout is dependent on the availability of vertical and horizontal spaces. An inverted ‘U’ arrangement of cabinets maximizes space. The chief rule to remember is that there are no rules. Whatever works for your needs is great.

Care

Cabinet care involves regular cleaning. This is made the most important because a food is stored in the kitchen. A microfiber cloth with warm water and a grease solvent such as mild dishwashing liquid in cases of stain are all that are needed. The cabinets should be routinely aired to prevent dampness. All spills should be cleaned before they dry out and gel. Avoid using silicone based, or ammonia-containing products on your cabinets. Harsh detergents and sponges should not be used, as they can lead to fading and scratches on the cabinet. Waxes may after prolonged use cause a film coat layer build up on the cabinet. Do not drape wet clothes on the cabinet to dry. The moisture can weaken the cabinet.
