Latest Cox news and offers: August 2018

Learn about end-of-the-summer deals from Cox, new Cox gigabit expansion and what the latest Cox news and deals mean for you if you’re looking for new Cox service or are already a Cox customer.

New Cox Contour TV apps for the family

In mid-August, Cox announced that Cox Contour TV customers now have access to YouTube Kids and NPR One. The new TV integrations means you don’t have to switch inputs on your smart TV to use the apps. Cox added YouTube Kids and NPR One to their growing library of integrations, which already includes Netflix, YouTube and iHeartRadio.

Cox expands gigabit speeds

The City of Harrison, Arkansas, welcomed a Cox ribbon cutting on August 24, 2018, as Cox unveiled Harrison’s new gigabit network. Residents throughout Harrison now have access to internet speeds up to 1,000 Mbps.

Cox in the community

Cox recently announced that it will award more than $95,000 to nonprofits throughout the Southeast. The Community Investment Grants come from Cox Charities, an employee-funded charity. Different organizations can apply for the grants and receive up to $5,000 if approved.

This summer, Cox also expanded learning resources offered through Cox’s Connect2Compete program. The Cox Digital Academy now includes free Spanish-language resources that teach computer skills, internet basics, math skills and more. Connect2Compete helps expand opportunities for families affected by the digital divide. The program offers discounted internet to families with one or more K-12 students living in public housing or qualifying for free or reduced lunch programs.

Featured Cox internet and TV package deals

Cox’s latest Bundle deals offer high internet speeds with excellent TV options. Cox TV and internet plans may not be available in your specific area, but Allconnect® can help you find TV and internet bundles and providers near you.

Cheapest Cox standalone internet plan: Cox internet Starter 10 at $19.99/mo.*

At $20 per month*, you can get speeds up to 10 Mbps, which Cox says is ideal for up to 3 devices browsing the internet. This standalone Cox internet plan comes with a one-year term agreement, so you can lock in your price for a year.

Best value Cox TV and internet package: Cox Bronze Bundle with Phone at $89.99/mo.*

The Cox Bronze Bundle, with internet speeds up to 100 Mbps, is one of Cox’s best value TV and internet packages. The Cox Bronze Bundle includes free HD programming, more than 140 unique Cox Contour TV channels, unlimited nationwide home phone calling and up to 10 Mbps internet upload speeds.

Tech-savvy consumers may notice that after reaching certain internet speed thresholds, higher speeds don’t yield significant performance improvements. 100 Mbps is already a good speed level for streaming and gaming on multiple devices. Since the next Cox TV and internet package costs $20 more per month* and offers the same features as the Cox Bronze Bundle except for internet speeds up to 300 Mbps (higher than some households need), the Cox Bronze Bundle is the best value Cox bundle deal for the average household.

However, if you have a large number of connected devices at home or are a heavy gamer and streamer, 300 Mbps provides great bandwidth and could easily be worth your investment.

Cheapest Cox TV and internet bundle: Cox Contour Flex, Internet Essential 30 and Phone at $59.99/mo.*

This Cox TV and internet package offers download speeds up to 30 Mbps internet, upload speeds up to 3 Mbps, unlimited nationwide home phone calling and more than 75 Cox Contour Flex channels, all for the low Cox bundle deal of $59.99 per month. Cox Contour Flex also offers TV streaming on 5 devices at once plus optional, additional channel packs. Lock in your Cox TV and internet bundle deal price for 12 months with a one-year service agreement.

*Pricing per month plus taxes for length of contract. Additional fees and terms may apply. Pricing varies by location and availability. All prices subject to change at any time. May or may not be available based on service address. Speeds may vary. Last updated 8/28/18.

What the latest Cox news and deals mean for customers and shoppers

Watch Cox internet plan and bundle pricing

Back in June 2018, Cox’s cheapest TV and internet bundle was priced at $69.99 per month. Different TV and internet providers offer special deals and packages throughout the year, so customers should keep their eyes on Cox’s TV and internet plans to get the best deal.

Continue to look forward to faster speeds for less

The latest Cox internet and TV deals show how far internet speed availability has come; standard internet packages offer higher speeds than ever before.

A Cox standalone internet plan with speeds up to 100 Mbps only costs $20 per month more than a standalone internet plan with speeds up to 30 Mbps.

Better bandwidth continues to become more affordable and more popular. In 2012, internet service providers were just beginning to introduce speeds at 100 Mbps and higher, according to an FCC report. Fast forward to 2015 and according to a 2015 FCC report, Cox’s most popular advertised internet speed tiers were 5 Mbps, 25 Mbps, 50 Mbps and 100 Mbps.

Today, Cox no longer offers 5 Mbps internet speeds. Available Cox plans offer speeds up to 10 Mbps, 30 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 300 Mbps and 1000 Mbps.

What gigabit expansion means for customers

Consumers can continue to look forward to higher internet speeds from service providers across the country, including Cox.

Cox has committed to invest $10 billion in its internet network over the next five years. While Cox will make upgrades throughout the state of Arkansas, cities and towns across the U.S. with Cox networks can expect improved internet services.
