There are several species of date palms: Phoenix roebelenii (Pygmy Date Palm), Phoenix Dactylifera (True Date Palm), Phoenix Canariensis (Canary Island Palm), Phoenix reclinata (Reclinata palm). They differ from each other, however, they are commonly called date palm trees.
