This part relates to Yoga sutra & religious ceremonies.

The episode seems to describing the path of kundalinee. However there seems to be some conflict since brahma narrating the story, states that he is in Sathya Loka & Vishnu Loka is above Sathya Loka. Sathya Loka is the 7th vyahrithy and hence as per Brahma himself Vishnu Loka is above the Sathya or Seven. This means either there is an eight Chakra / mandala / loka or simply that Vishnu loka is beyond the 7th Chakra or outside its realm, which may be the reason, why the sage have declared that one attains Moksha if these seven chakra are crossed by the person. He escapes into the Vishnu loka from within his own confined space of his body, physical or otherwise. Further, the conversation between Lord Vishnu & the sanakas very well show the deepest meaning of Dwaitha & Adwaitha Sidhantas.

The above may be one of the reasons for conducting Brahmana bojana etc for the sake of Vishnu preethi, pitra preethi etc. Further, it also shows that, the “Chitravali” offered by brahmana to the pancha prana etc a customary ritual, just before eating is actually more important than their eating or offering food. Hence, during a brahmana bojana, if the Brahmins are not offering “Chitravali” due to ignorance or otherwise, such an offering of food may become useless because it does not reach the intended persona, Lord Vishnu.

Jaya & Vija were reborn as Hiranyakasapu & Hiranyaksha, the two dreaded sons of Diti & Kashyapa. This is the part that interest an historian, Geo-scientist, astronomer or an astrologer. It is said that diti kept the sperm of kashyapa in her womb for 100 years without giving birth for fear of great destruction. The power or brilliance of sperm was so great, even it darkened the Sun & Moon to the extant that it was difficult to distinguish between day & night. This could mean Solar eclipse. This is reason for gods to seek the advice of Brahma & his answer as the story of Jaya & Vijaya.

Again, just before their birth, world is shook by calamities such a huge earthquakes, fire balls raining, huge waves such a tsunami, flooding etc. Huge meteors fell on earth, cyclones also followed. Misty halo is said to appear around the disk of Sun & Moon. Solar & Lunar Eclipse occurred again & again. More over some more data which is of astrological significance is provided such as Mars & Saturn shone brighter – they are not combust while Jupiter, Venus & Mercury as well as a number of lunar mansions are retrograde and they were engaged in what is griha yudha.

It should be remembered that Sri Varaha Mihira, in his famous text Brihat Samhitha has mentioned halo & colors of sun & Moon disk and its relationship with the climatic changes and natural calamities etc.

Other lunar mansions, mentioned are not clear. Are there other planets other that these three? The luminaries, the five planets represent the five elements & five chakras. In this logic, are there other chakras, though minor ones which should be of interest for a yogi or astrologically?

In any case, Solar & lunar eclipse occurring in succession, the planets such as Mars & Saturn attaining more power and benefic planets such Jupiter, Venus & Mercury retrograde and engaged in griha yudha definitely indicate a birth of person of Asuric nature. It is well known that a combust planet looses its shine & thus it power. Hence, we can assume, in this regard, that Mars & Saturn were not combust by the proximity to the sun who himself may be eclipsed.

Another contradiction is shown by the retrograde motion of planets that generally are assumed to have more strength & hence are benefics. However, this story strongly indicates benefic planets such as Jupiter, Venus & Mercury if retrograde actually creates a nature of demonic proportions in human beings, selfishness, becomes an enemy of dharma & all those advocates dharmic values. These are conditions that are not only of inner nature but extend to affect others also in their social circle. This is more evident by the character & its depth shown by his attempt to kill own son, Prahlada for his adherence to dharma & omnipotent lord Vishnu.

In the episode, a minor, though very interesting factor about the birth of these twins is also mentioned that should interest both astrologers as well as medical scientists. It refers to the Adhana lagna of these twins. Though Hiranyakashipu is said to be born first & hence the elder of the two, the story claims that the adhana (the time of sperm meeting ovary) of Hiranyaksha was the first. Hence, one can assume that the adhana lagna of the second child (among twins) was actually prior to that of the first born.

In mundane astrology, the above combination indicates natural calamities of huge proportion also.

Another interesting factor lies in the description of these asuras. They are said to grown from the elements of stone and to size of huge mountains. They stood eclipsing the sun and was surrounded by an excellent girdle. They further went deep into the mighty oceans as well after conquering the other worlds. This description should be of interest to geologists since these two asuras are said be born soon after huge natural calamities. The propensity of these events point fingers to geographical changes or may also indicate formation of new planets / asteroids / Moons etc, which eclipsed the Sun, thus toppling the cosmic balance. The anger of gods & destruction of dharma could be very well understood which arose out of this imbalance, since Sun is the center of universe and its state of eclipse results in the destruction of all life. A more in-depth research into this might bring forth facts that transformed the earth or even the changes in our galaxy.
