Christmas Card Stamping with Card-io products

Well, I've been busy doing new things (and still doing the 'old' things that interest me too!!) and I've been a bit lazy about keeping the blog up to date.

I've been working out some ideas for Christmas cards, now the season to be jolly is rapidly approaching.  Just straightforward and simple images, but effective (I hope) - and heartfelt, of course.  I like Card-io products very much, and always try to watch their new presentations when they appear on Hochanda.  Their finished products are always 'clean' and minimalist allowing for the use of either strong or subtle colours to great effect.

I don't have many ink pad colours, which is why the sky is the colour it is (no yellow rising sun behind the snowy hills). I rubbed over the ink with a variety of applicators - dried wet-wipe; Foam Makeup Applicator and kitchen roll.  I think I like the foam makeup applicator best.  I cut a port-hole out of a piece of card, and used a torn strip of paper as a mask for the snow drifts.  On the second image above, I added some crystal resin to create snowflakes and to give a sheen to the girl's umbrella.  In the final version I will create dots of acrylic paint and then add the crystal resin on top, so they snowflakes show up and look more natural.  And I'll add some to the tree branches.

this image was just testing different sky and snowdrift colours

This image was experimenting with the 2-stage moon stamp, and to see what the clouds looked like.  It shows the importance of taking one's time and aligning masks properly!  I've already re-stamped the moon in silver for some new designs (looks great in metallic silver btw).  I'll mask it before adding sky and clouds, then the snowdrifts, tree and a deer.
