On my trip up here to Dubuque Iowa there was one thing that stood out. Corn. There are corn fields as far as the eye can see. The landscape is much flatter than my home state of Kentucky. When you drive through this country side the corn fields seem to stretch for miles. I grew up in Indiana and I saw some corn but this seems much bigger.

Patty and I had some free time today to do some sightseeing. The city of Dubuque and the surrounding areas are really nice. Lots of older buildings that are beautifully maintained. It is a city that gives you a welcoming feeling. We were both very impressed.

We are staying at the Grand Harbor hotel. Within walking distance there are casinos, water park, museum and more. From what I have seen I can highly recommend this area for a visit.

We went over to Dyersville to visit a nice antique mall. Patty spent some time in the Kennedy mall while I sat and waited. :). We had a good dinner at a steak joint then headed back to the room.

I have a few things planned for tomorrow. My first priority is to go to the Mid West trade show venue and get setup for Friday and Saturdays show.

I hope everyone within travel distance can make it to the show. Our hobby can be a bit of a solitary experience. It's great to have a chance to visit with others who enjoy the same things.

Many of the vendors at the show have supported our hobby for years. If possible try to support as many of them as possible. Without them our hobby would suffer greatly. If you don't need what they are selling take a business card or sign up for their email list. One day you may need what they are offering.
