I was cruising around Twitter (which I tend to do on a daily basis), when I came across this creative campaign by the National Mill Dog Rescue; "Coins for the Canines".

For me I find loose change everywhere.  In my car, in my dresser, often embedded in my favorite chair, my gym bag, in the junk drawer.....Interestingly enough, never in my change purse.

National Mill Dog Rescue is encouraging people to take the time to collect these misguided coins. To guide these wayward cents into doing something with their currency lives.  Pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters all add up to helping the NMDR carry out their mission.  And what is their mission? "To rescue, rehabilitate and rehome discarded breeding dogs and to educate the general public about the cruel realities of the commercial dog breeding industry."  I can easily say that dog lovers would find that worthy of a coin collecting effort.

To make it very easy to round up coins, they have created a label that can be easily printed and placed on jars.  Place them at work, school, in your local shop, at special event, church....wherever there are coin-carrying people.   Click here to find the information on creating your own collection jars.  You don't even have to be crafty.  Not in the least. 

Since of course they can't collect change from across the world, the better option is to count your change once collected, deposit it to your bank account and then donate the equivalent through their DONATION LINK.  

They also have flyers that can be downloaded and printed off, helping to explain what they do and why it's most worthwhile to part with a few coins.  When I read the fact that there are over 1 million breeder dogs being confined in puppy mills in the USA, I am glad there are organizations like this that are working hard to do something about it. And more money means more ability to carry out their efforts. 

Please consider joining the Coins for the Canines campaign to help the National Mill Dog Rescue carry out their mission. Put your loose change to work.  It's tired of being stuck in the couch and under your car floor mats anyways.  It wants a purpose and I say this is a damn good one.
