Hillary Vermont was born in New York City in 1951. She had an unusually great art education in New Milford High School in N.J. with Bea Card Kettlewood, her mentor and inspiration. Hillary graduated from Parsons School of Design, 1972 in NYC, with degrees in graphic design, advertising and illustration. Hillary communicated visually in fun colors and big bold graphics. Her heroes were Milton Glaser and Seymour Chwast. Hillary worked as an art director in New York City Ad Agencies and at CBS Records Advertising through the 70s while she put together an illustration portfolio. By 1979 Hillary started licensing her designs to manufacturers of printable products. Her first licensee was the Museum of Modern Art/NYC for their Christmas card collection. Subsequent licensees were Lincoln Center for tee shirts, mugs and towels and The Smithsonian for tees. Other product categories her work has appeared on are childrens posters and puzzles, beach towels, mugs, greeting cards, gift wrappings and stationery for varied licensees.
