It’s Children’s Hospice Week this week, so what better time for us to tell you about our work with Jigsaw, a local children’s hospice in Carlisle. Jigsaw is one of Hand on Heart’s nominated charities, and we have already done a number of things to show our support and fundraise.

Back in April, Jane made her way to the hospice to make a special delivery of some Hand on Heart printing kits and gift vouchers for Jigsaw to add to their memory boxes.

Just the other weekend, many members of Team HoH took part in the Carlisle Colour Run and raised £294 for Jigsaw and, their partner charity, Eden Valley Hospice.

Finally, Team HoH are throwing a Tropic Skincare party this Friday evening in aid of Jigsaw. We have two Tropic raffles running to raise £100 for Jigsaw, and 10% of all sales on the evening will also be donated.

We feel that Jigsaw has great values and the work that they do for our community is amazing. The hospice itself is located in Carlisle, 24 miles from our Studio in Hackthorpe. The hospice is a fun place for children and Young Adults with life-limiting conditions to create special memories.

They have a multi-sensory room and a sensory garden, as well as an activity room for visitors to enjoy each day. The hospice is able to supply residency care overnight for five children or young adults. The home from home environment of the hospice allows the nurses to provide a routine as close to that they have at home to make the experience as relaxing as possible.

Jigsaw not only care for the children and young adults, they also provide support for families. When a child is in residency, the hospice has a flat available to the family if they aren’t comfortable with leaving their child overnight. The nurses and staff at Jigsaw are available to give advice and friendship to the families, and the siblings of each child is welcome to join in the activities that go on at Jigsaw each day.

We’re delighted to announce that we have a very special fundraising event coming up on 1st October. The keen runners of the team, Jane and Heather, are running a half marathon, the Great Cumbrian Run, in support of Jigsaw. We hope they raise even more for this wonderful charity and Jigsaw can continue their fantastic work for many years to come.
