The moment skier found beloved iPhone in ski field with a metal detector – a WEEK after he lost it

A man has found his lost iPhone that was buried in snow in the Vermont ski fields after a dogged search with a Metal-detector a week after he dropped it.

When the unthinkable happened to Michael Wong, 28 – losing his iPhone after wiping out on the slopes – he wasn’t prepared to accept it was gone.

Armed with a Metal Detector, New Yorker Wong returned to the scene of his devastating loss a week later and after a half-hour search, found the phone, lying beneath a few inches of snow. Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2572447/The-moment-skier-lost-iPhone-ski-field-metal-detector.html

Metal detector hunters return treasures to couple

IF you’ve ever lost something of enormous sentimental value, you’ll relate to this story, particularly if the item happens to be worth a few thousand bucks.

For a while Stockton resident Tony Jarrott was the king of bling. And his wife Gail, happy with her chappy. But the true gold in this yarn is how their 13-year-old son Zac managed to find and return expensive jewellery found fossicking on Stockton Beach to its rightful owners, a Sydney couple, who didn’t even know they’d lost it until two days later. Coin found by treasure hunter confirms long disputed historical fact

A 16th century shilling, buried in clay on the shores of Vancouver Island has changed the course of Canadian history. An amateur treasure hunter with a hand-held metal detector discovered the 435-year-old coin and has given credence that British hero, Sir Francis Drake discovered Canada long before the Spanish.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) – It has been a long-held theory that the British explorer made a secret voyage to Canada two centuries before it was discovered by the Spaniards.

Currently, official historical records say that the Spanish were the first Europeans to set foot on Canadian soil. The first incursion by Europeans is thought to have been in Canada’s British Columbia province in 1774. This discovery was followed four years later by British Royal Navy Captain James Cook. Source: http://www.catholic.org/international/international_story.php?id=54439

Would you recognize hidden treasure?

We all dream of finding hidden treasure. Hoards of gold coins in the garden, buried jewels in the allotment or silver in the attic. But would you actually recognise treasure if you saw it?

It’s not such a silly question! When retired security systems installer Bruce Campbellfound a rare Edward VI shilling buried in the mud on Vancouver Island, he had no idea of the significance of his find. He only started hunting for treasure with a hand-held metal detector because he was ‘sick of TV and getting fat’. Read full article

Saddle Ridge Hoard Coins Embezzled in 1901?

Saddle Ridge Hoard Coins embezzled in 1901? The 1,447 gold coins, found on the property of a northern California couple, have multiple reported histories of how they arrived there, with one of the theories worthy of a closer examination. The first was that Jessie James and his gang buried the coins with the goal of financing a second Civil War. That account rings false over an important detail. James died 12 years before the last coin was minted.

When he was not writing poetry, the gentleman robber Black Bart absconded with the funds from the stagecoaches he robbed. Facts get in the way of making that account plausible. Bart committed his crimes between 1877 and 1883. When the law caught up with Bart, he went to jail. Another detail making the theory prove false: the latest date of one of the recovered coins was 1894 and all the coins were pristine once cleaned. Read full article
