Sea Turtle Life Cycle Flextangles

Sea Turtle Life Cycle Flextangles are a fun way to learn about life cycles! As you rotate the flextangle you can watch a Sea Turtle go from eggs, to a hatchling, to a juvenile turtle and then to adulthood.

Flextangles are really cool! You fold paper to create a shape that rotates without ripping. We’ve found that cardstock is the best paper choice, as everything else is too flexiblea nd has a hard time holding it’s shape.

To create your own Sea Turtle Life Cycle Flextangle you’ll need to download the file (below), print onto cardstock and cut out the shape.

We used a straight edge and a bone folder to score the lines. It is possible to do with a bone folder though. We will be folding every solid and straight line.

Fold the straight lines out, so they are back to back side of the paper when folded. Fold all in one direction and then fold all in the other direction.

Once the solid lines are folded we will fold the dotted lines. The dotted lines get folded in, or picture side to picture side of the paper.

After all the lines have been folded, roll into a tube shape. Spend a little time getting the shapes just right before glueing.

Add glue and connect the sides. If waiting for glue to dry isn’t going to work for you, you can also use tape to secure the ends.

Hold until the glue has dried

The last step is to add glue to the end tabs and connect the flextangle into a circle. That’s it! Now what your sea turtle eggs hatch and grow up as you rotate the flextangle!
