5 Simple Teen Skin Care Tips To Boost Their Confidence

5 Simple Teen Skin Care Tips To Follow

Healthy skin is a bigger deal to teens than we may think. Clear skin equals confidence and confidence is everything to a teenager. For newbie teens especially, like my fun and goofy 13-year-old Bridges…proper skin care needs to be taught. To help Bridges get her best skin in the new school year, here’s where I start!

1. Skip the soda and drink water.

I cringe when I think back to what most of my teenage lunches consisted of—a soda and a candy bar. Teens can get a leg up on healthy living and clear skin by drinking more H2O. Water hydrates your skin’s cells and gives it a more radiant glow.

2. Daily face washing

According to NYC-based dermatologist Dr. Dhaval Bhanusali (or Dr. B to his patients), teens break out mostly due to a combination of hormones and increased oil production. That oil clogs pores and invites bacteria and debris inside, leading to breakouts.

Bridges has been using Morning Burst Facial Cleanser since the first of the school year and I’m impressed with how fresh her skin looks. Plus, Morning Burst® helps to energize her skin and wake her up in the morning, making getting ready for the day a lot easier. Clean & Clear helped Bridges be confident and ready for her school pictures!

3. Less makeup is more.

Dang, those teenage years are awkward, and the transition from elementary school to middle school is especially tricky. As a parent of a newbie-aged kid, I wanted Bridges’s introduction to makeup to be gradual. We started with a little bit of mascara and tinted lip gloss.

When it comes to healthy teen skin, the less makeup blocking the pores the better.

4. Stop face picking.

According to Dr. B, it’s a big no-no to pick at the skin. Picking at acne can cause permanent marks. “Definitely avoid touching the face…This can lead to scarring and further damage.” Instead of picking at a zit, your teen can treat a breakout with Clean & Clear® Persa-Gel 10, which has the same strength acne fighting formula recommended by doctors and helps prevent future breakouts with gentle cleansing.

Acne is unfortunately an inevitable part of teen life, but it can be kept under control with over-the-counter products. Dr. B recommends Clean & Clear’s Acne Triple Clear™ Bubble Foam Cleanser for teens with oily skin and for everyday cleansing Clean & Clear’s Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub for combination skin.

5. When to see a dermatologist

One of the biggest questions parents of teens have is, When should I take them to a dermatologist? Basically a few acne bumps are okay. It’s when they start filling with pus or get tender that it’s best to schedule a dermatologist visit.

Find Clean & Clear® at Target

Today’s teens are dealing with a lot of changes: new classes, new friends, and changing skin.  I may not be able to help Bridges with everything, but I can help her get her best possible skin. And healthy, clear skin means a happy, confident Bridges and that girl is going places!

Head to Target where you can find our favorite Clean & Clear® products like Morning Burst® Facial Cleanser.

And check back in a few days where we’ll be giving away three $10 Target gift cards and some Clean & Clear® swag!
