A Sara Thing Kit

I really am excited about the two projects that I’m sharing. The first project is a beautiful, clean and simple card.  For the second project, I created an adorable little treat box. Read on for all the fun details, but, first, we have a BIG announcement…

Project #1 – A Love You Mom Card

Check out this clean, simple card featuring the heart from the Paper Pumpkin Kit.  It is watercolored using the Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils that are included as a special gift from Sara Douglass. Each box includes 4 mini Stampin’ Up! Watercolor pencils!  I’m a huge fan of the Stampin’ Up! Watercolor pencils. The heart is colored by using the Melon Mambo watercolor pencil from the upper left portion the middle of the heart. From the bottom right, I colored the heart using Daffodil Delight watercolor pencil.  To create the intense color, press harder then lighten the pressure to soften the color. To blend colors, Stampin’ Up! provides a little watercolor brush. Just add water, then carefully blend the colors on the heart. I blended from the outer edges focusing on blending colors in the center of the heart.

The black card base came with the kit but I added a Whisper White layer dry embossed using the Petals Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The sentiment features the stamp set included with the kit. I stamped the “You” using the NEW Lemon Lime Twist In Color then Melon Mambo for the “Love” and “Mom.” As a Display Stamper, I love the Lemon Lime Twist In Color!  It is a fun neutral and goes with just about EVERY color imaginable.  The Lemon Lime Twist adds a vibrancy and a fun POP of color.

Finally, I added the Rich Razzleberry flower and leaves.  All the elements are included in the kit.  The leaves are stickers and the flower is acrylic with a layer of glitter.

Project #2 – For the Best Teacher Treat Box

This little treat box was fun to make. I challenged myself to use mostly items from the Paper Pumpkin Kit. Surprisingly, this adorable box holds 10 Hershey Kisses! And, How did I do it?

First of all, I tore apart an envelope and trimmed off the envelope flaps except for the portion of the flaps that were creased. To reinforce the box, I added a 1″ wide strip of Basic Black cardstock for the side panels. Yet, the box still needed reinforcements. Therefore, I folded down the creased edge then added washi tape to top of the box. A noteworthy element is the addition of the handle. Originally just a finishing touch, the handle adds structure to the box by using Basic Black cut to 1″ x 7″ and glued to the inside of the box.

The sentiment is stamped using the NEW Lemon Lime Twist In Color and the Basic Black Archival Ink on the small banner included with the Paper Pumpkin – A Sara Thing kit. Just like my card sample above, I’ve used the Rich Razzleberry glittery flower with the leaf stickers.
