Dried Apricot Cake Decorations

A perfect combination; yellow cake, homemade white frosting, Dried Apricots and a little chocolate.

In California fresh Apricots are available in the summer months. I didn't realize how lucky I was to be able to pick a piece of fruit off a tree and eat it until I moved out of the state. I now order Dried apricots from a farm located by where I once lived.

I made a birthday cake and needed some Decorations for the top. Having a large bag of "cots", I used a small cookie cutter and cut out some flower shapes. Then melted some chocolate chips in a baggie, cut off one corner of the bag and squeezed a bit of chocolate to create a middle for the flowers. A simple way to decorate a cake.
