Fleur de Lis Cocktail

The Fleur de Lis Cocktail from the Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone is a refreshing cocktail only a city that New Orleans could create. Now you can create one at home.

New Orleans is a town that I love; it has Old World charm and a rich history that ‘s hard to duplicate anywhere. New Orleans is a hot city; it is almost as if you wear New Orleans during the summer. Parker Davis, who works at the Carousel Bar in the Hotel Monteleone created this only refreshing cocktail. If you have been to New Orleans, you know that they specialize in Gin and Whiskey based cocktails. Gin cocktails can be refreshing, it has the perfect balance of bitter and sweet, it is the King of cocktails, and yes, it is an acquired taste.

Gins have different flavors and are unique. Hendrix has a cucumber flavor and it is what makes this extra cocktail special. The Fleur de Lis has flavors of cucumber, lime, a touch of sweet, and a slight fizz. It is a balanced cocktail that is easy to make. It will not only quench your thirst, but it will also help you wash away the mugginess of a summer day in New Orleans.

This cocktail requires Hendrix gin, you could use other types, but they all have different flavor notes, so you want to pick one that has a nice herbal quality. Botanist may also be a good choice. I like that this the ginger ale in here is not overpowering as it can be in a Moscow Mule. Some website online says to use lemon juice; others use lime. On my weekend of sampling cocktails at the bar they were using lime, you can use either, but I have a preference for the lime version of this delightful drink.
