Selling Antiques, Vintage, and Collectibles on Craftrina

Craftrina is excited to announce a brand new category to our marketplace for sellers wishing to sell authentic antiques, vintage, and collectible items. The definition of antique varies from person to person, item to item, and year to year.

So, we have carefully curated our Antique, Vintage, & Collectibles Policy to ensure sellers know exactly what can and cannot be sold under this particular category.

We feel it’s very important to provide buyers and sellers with transparent classifications for this category. In doing so, we hope to eliminate subjective judgement’s of the definition of antique, vintage, and collectible.

We feel the best way to introduce our new policy by using the frequently asked question process.

Below you will find common questions and answers to our policy on selling antique, vintage, and collectibles on Craftrina.

SELLING ANTIQUES

What does Craftrina consider antique?

Craftrina only allows items listed as antiques which are 100 years or older and is collected or desirable due to its rarity, utility, or some other uniquely identifying feature. If an item is 99 years old, it cannot be listed for sale on Craftrina —no exception to the rule. We recommend holding on to your 99 year old item and listing it for sale on its 100th year.

OR

Any piece of furniture or decorative object or the like produced in a former period and valuable because of its beauty or rarity.

It’s important to think in terms of centuries. Using this as a guide will ensure sellers stay within the rules governing our policy.

What types of antiques can be sold on Craftrina?

Craftrina considers antiques ‘works of art’, collections in illustration of the progress of the arts, works in bronze, marble, Terra Cotta, Parian (type of biscuit porcelain imitating marble), pottery or porcelain, artistic antiquities, and objects of ornamental character or educational value which shall have been produced at least 100 years ago.

Are restored antiques allowed to be sold on Craftrina?

It depends. If the overall character is changed, or more than 50 percent of the antique has been restored or repaired, we consider that item void. It’s no longer considered an antique.

However, there is an exception to this rule: items that are subject to frequent wear (tools, motor vehicles, and items subjected to vigorous use in contrast). Such items can be called antique when they are over 25 years old. This avoids sellers trying to sell collectibles as antiques.

SELLING VINTAGE ITEMS

What does Craftrina Consider Vintage?

In order to list and item as vintage on Craftrina, the must be at least 50 years old (range: 50 to 100 years old). If the item is not at least 50 years old, you may not sell it on Craftrina.

SELLING COLLECTIBLES & DISCONTINUED ITEMS

To list collectibles and discontinued items on Craftrina, we classify them as items up to 50 years old.
