Mini vacation to Colorado Springs

Our mini vacation to Colorado Springs was a great getaway and packed full of fun. We decided to surprise the kids by taking them to the Great Wolf Lodge. We’ve been to the Great Wolf in Montana, but I was pleasantly surprised with everything this hotel had to offer. We also visited the US Air Force Academy, the Royal Gorge and Cave of the Winds. There were a few more things we wanted to do while we were there, but we ran out of time. The zoo is definitely on my bucket list because I’ve always wanted to go and feed the giraffes. This hotel offers several dining options with lots of kid friendly food. Talyn and Scout were so excited when they saw all the different activities they could enjoy inside the hotel. They loved the water park and Talyn could have spent the entire day in the wave pool if we would have let him. There are fun areas for younger kids, but also larger slides that Matt and Kadin enjoyed. This hotel also has indoor mini golf, a rope course, bowling, an arcade and more. US Air Force Academy The US Air Force Academy is at the base of the Rocky Mountain Foothills and the views are incredible! Our favorites from this academy were definitely the Cadet Chapel and the visitor center. The visitor center was cool because there’s so much history to read about… and if you grew up loving Top Gun, you’ll enjoy this! Royal Gorge I still can’t believe that I’ve lived in Colorado my whole life and this was the first time I’ve been to the Royal Gorge. The Royal Gorge is suspended 1,053 feet above the Arkansas River, making it the highest suspension bridge in the world. The views at this park are amazing. We walked across the bridge and took a gondola ride back. You can also zipline back if you are looking for something a little more thrilling or ride the Royal Rush Skycoaster. Cave of the Winds Believe it or not, this was another first for me. I’ve always wanted to see what the Cave of the Winds was all about, so I was super excited to visit. We went on the discovery tour and it was so much fun. They tell you the history of how two brothers discovered the caves back in 1881 and how it has become what it is today while you wander through the winding caves. They also have a lantern tour at night and that sounds amazing… that’s on my bucket list for my next visit. All three of the kids loved the tour and the activities afterwards so this is definitely a place the whole family will love. If you’ve been to Colorado Springs, what is your favorite thing to do?
