Not Everything Sells!

MAN CAVE MIXED MEDIA UPCYCLED AUTO STUDS AND ALUMINUM LAWN EDGE

Not everything I make sells even though it gets a chance to sell for YEARS.  LOL!  I got the brainstorm to make a Man Cave Window Treatment after I got a roll of aluminum lawn edging at a garage sale in 2010.  I made a special trip to Astoria to dig through an antique shop that had authentic metal car Studs to spell out “Man Cave”.

I got the wrenches featured in the window treatment at the same garage sale and was very inspired to make this window treatment.  I attached the Car Studs to almunium circles I cut out of metal sheeting and painted red flares with a black border.

The valance never sold and it was tucked in a storage drawer that I cleaned out last weekend so I was inspired to make a Man Cave picture.

The metal car letter studs have prongs that stick out that I wasn’t in the mood to get out the Dremel to cut off, so I adjusted for the prongs by building up the back with some foam core.  I punched holes in the aluminum  circles for the prongs.

Poke the metal letter stud into the holes and attach with some Hot Glue.

Make some stacks of foam core with hot glue and mask the outstides with some washi tape for a clean finish.

Cut pieces of aluminum edge to fit the aluminum circle and hot glue them to your picture.  Add a wrench to decorate the center.  This would be a great Father’s Day present, and maybe it will inspire you to look around your house and find some cool stuff to make your own Man Cave Sign!
