Geocache: Over the top under your feet

Tags: hint lunch cache
The importance of a Hint is really high, especially for beginners, they could make the decision between someone becomes a geocacher or stops playing after the first few searches. (Here I on purpose say searches and not finds.)

The story in short
The last few days are sometimes rainy, sometimes dry but the most important it is not cold or windy. Work was good on track so we decided to go out for a Lunch and not order food. After a good lunch I asked my hosts how about walking down to the Keelung river as it is only a few steps away and I never had a chance to see it before. They did not need much convincing, and I quickly looked up that there is a geocache within quick reach. A fast reading checking the hint, the last few logs difficulty terrain combination is low, so should be an easy pick.

We walked to the area, while I took a few pictures.

Weather was not the best but at least no rain.
A bird feeding in the grass. Same birds
made lots of noise on neighboring trees.
After the short walk we found the stairways heading over the protection wall. At this point I had to realize why is the cache up here not somewhere down, there must be a reason to have the wall, most probably during typhoon or after there is huge amount of water passing by in the river.

Looking back down from the top.

I have to say this cache had a great hint: 'Over the top under your feet'. Most beginners give up the game is they cannot find the first few geocaches they go for. I met many caches where the hint only made sense after you found the cache, but not helping you find it. Not in this case, it made it so easy, we just reached up to the top and ...

Cannot be higher, so this should be the top.
The just asked myself what is under my feet, and it was bright and yellow as you might have guessed by now...

There we go, there is our treasure.
... under my feet, just as the hint said. This is a great first find for any new player. Talking of the new players, many of us feels like everyone should play this game, so we try to show the game to new potential players, and we are so happy when we find one. I hope I found one this day.

The hide and find is not always what gives the satisfaction, sometimes you get some nice pictures collected like here at this river.

View from the cache.
The weather you cannot really influence, but you can still find the view on a city good, especially if you previously only saw it from the other way, sitting in a cab driving over the bridge in this picture, and not even spotting the river from the cab as it was in the middle lane all the time.

I think a lunch break cannot be finished better then a small dessert and a geocache.

Fuit jelly, the size of the jar is actually
no more than 5cm in diameter.
