International Students - Why Study in UK?

One of the best places in the world to gain a higher education is the UK. Study in UK, specifically London, can be a difficult thing to stay on track with. This is because London is a big city and there are many distractions available for college students. Managing finances and student life are a huge issue for many students that decide to study abroad in the UK.

Managing finances in the UK

Managing finances can be a difficult thing to do for any college student. However, this is especially the case for anyone that is studying in a country other than their native country. There are a number of contributing factors to student’s inability to manage their finances in the UK. Not everyone pursuing higher education is knowledgeable about managing their finances. If one is living off of loan, grant, or parentally provided college funds it can be difficult to stay mindful of just how much money is being spent. After classes and books are paid for there is usually a surplus of money to be spent. This can come in the form of left of money from a college fund or even things such as grant refunds. It can be easy to think of this as superfluous income, but it is wise to try to be frugal in college. You never know when you will need money for an emergency, so as cliché as it may sound it is wise to do as the antiquated saying suggests and “save it for a rainy day.”

Student life in the UK

Student life in the UK is unlike student life in almost anywhere in the world. This is because cities like London are very large and have a myriad of things to do that can distract from studying and college in general. It is a good idea to consider extracurricular activities and be active in one’s University, but being too active in things other than studying can be a big distraction for any student. Student life is an important part of the college experience. It is easy for a student to get tired or “burnt out” when it comes to studying or simply going to school too much and not having a social life. This is why a healthy balance between the two is the best way to facilitate a positive experience for any student studying in the UK.

If you are thinking about studying in one of the many prestigious Universities in London there are a few things that you will need to be aware of. If you know how to manage your finances you will be a step above the competition and be much more prepared to save money and spend responsibly. In addition to this if you can manage to find a healthy mix between studying and socializing you will avoid potentially being burnt out by your studies abroad. The majority of this advice is applicable to anyone studying abroad anywhere and is wise to follow no matter where you pursue your education.
