SRM University Amaravathi launches Liberal Arts School next academic year?


SRM University Amaravathi launches Liberal Arts School from next academic year in Amaravathi, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh.

Students should be capable of not only learning but also create and to not only think about job opportunities but also be entrepreneurs, said Nicholas B.Dirks, Chancellor Emeritus of the University of California, Berkley and honorary pro-chancellor of SRM University.

Courses offered at SRM University Amaravathi:-

Dirks, Satyanarayanan, president at SRM, and vice chancellor D.Narayana Rao announced the launch of the School of Liberal Arts and Basic Sciences at Amaravathi on Wednesday.The school is going to begin from the next academic year in 12 disciplines, including economics, English, history, journalism, psychology, business studies, commerce, physics, and computer science.The courses offered are bachelors in Arts, sciences, business administration, and commerce, each with a duration of three years.

Speaking on the occasion, Satyanarayana said that there are few liberal arts schools in the south and that the university wanted to build one of the best liberal arts schools in the country.He said that liberal arts would foster a spirit of curiosity in students.SRM introduced disciplinary experiential
learning which allows students to take a course from any discipline offered in the university, he added.Engineering students can take liberal arts courses and vice versa, he further added.

The School of Liberal Arts and Basic Sciences is intended to promote critical thinking and to enable students to think of the issues of today through multiple perspectives said, Dirks.The school will make SRM a comprehensive university, he added.Satyanarayana said that SRM was inaugurated on July 15, this year, and in five months they built administrative and academic blocks in 31 lakh square feet.He said that the goal is to attract 35,000 students in the next 10 years.

SRM University, AP - Amaravathi is currently seeking to appoint aspiring and experienced academics for its school of Engineering and Applied Sciences and School of Liberal Arts and Basic Sciences to the positions of Department Chair, Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor.
Applicants must demonstrate solid experience in personal research and experience in the design and delivery of relevant undergraduate and graduate programs.For the position of the department chair, candidates must also demonstrate their ability and experience of academic leadership, including a proven ability to motivate and develop junior staff.

About SRM University:-

SRM Institute of Science and Technology, or Sri Ramaswamy Memorial Institute of Science and Technology, once regarded in the past as SRM University, is situated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It was established as SRM Engineering College in Kattankulathur in 1985, under University of Madras. It has total 8 campuses. Four out of eight are in Tamil Nadu — Kattankulathur, Ramapuram, Vadapalani, Tiruchchirappalli.The rest of four are in Delhi NCR, Sonepat, Gangtok, and Amaravathi.

SRM Institute of Science and Technology is approved by the University Grants Commission and is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It has been given an overall A Grade by NAAC. Some programs in SRM Institute of Science and Technology are accredited by Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
