Vegan Strawberry Almond Smoothie and My Strawberry Secret

Looking for an easy, creamy strawberry smoothie that will leave you feeling full and energized? Try this Strawberry Almond Smoothie. It’s made with real Food ingredients, such as strawberries, bananas, almond butter and almond milk. That’s it. Simply and so good for you.

But before we get into the recipe, can I share something with you? I’ve long had an obsession with strawberries. You’ve heard me say before that chocolate doesn’t do it for me. But strawberries? Yes, please! Well, I have a little secret to share…

Okay, here goes… as a kid I LOVED Nesquik Strawberry Milk. It was my once-in-a-while treat, and I loved it. I still remember opening up that Nestle can and scooping out that so-called strawberry mixture into my milk. I’ve long given up that fake strawberry powder. And thank goodness. I just looked up what was in it.

INGREDIENTS: SUGAR, NATURAL FLAVOR, BEET JUICE POWDER, LESS THAN 2% OF MALTODEXTRIN, CARRAGEENAN, BETA CAROTENE, CITRIC ACID, SALT. VITAMINS AND MINERALS: SODIUM ASCORBATE (VITAMIN C), FERRIC PYROPHOSPHATE (IRON), NIACINAMIDE, ZINC OXIDE, THIAMIN HYDROCHLORIDE, COPPER GLUCONATE, MANGANESE SULFATE, BIOTIN

Wow! I can’t believe I used to drink this stuff. It’s shocking to see and I’m sure when I was younger they used artificial food coloring rather than beet juice. There’s also maltodextrin, carrageenan and other questionable ingredients.

Since I’ve been on this real food journey, I’ve been looking for natural food swaps that are WAY better than what I used to like. And I think you’ll enjoy this recipe too.

This Strawberry Almond Smoothie is thick, creamy and so delicious. It’s filling as a meal replacement in the morning for breakfast or a mid-afternoon snack. You could even put it in the freezer and enjoy it as a ice cream. It’s made with homemade almond milk, so it’s non-dairy, vegan, gluten free and grain free.

Where to Get Kitchen Pantry Essentials

I get my other baking supplies like almond butter, vanilla extract, etc. either on Amazon or my local Health Food Store usually. But then I got a Thrive membership. If you don’t already have one – it’s awesome! It’s like Whole Foods meets Costco. Organic vanilla extract, for instance, is about $5 at my local health food store and $5.30 on Amazon. But it’s only $3.95 (YES!) on Thrive Market. Great deal right? And the raw honey?! Don’t even get me started how much that costs at the health food store. But on Thrive Market it’s just $5.45 for a 10.5 oz jar of raw honey.
