FAQ Special – Botox®

The use of Botox® for the Treatment of wrinkles began in 2002, it is now the most popular product of it’s kind for the reduction of the appearance of wrinkles, followed by Dermal Fillers. In this post we answer the 8 most frequently asked questions about the treatment.

  1. What is Botox®?

‘Botox®’ is the brand name for a naturally occurring protein – Botulinim Toxin, it is used in incredibly small concentrations in injectible form to treat wrinkles.

  1. How does it work?

Botox® works by preventing communication between nerve cells and muscles, which relaxes the muscles reducing the movement that creases the Skin causing visible wrinkles.

  1. What does the treatment entail?

The treatment usually lasts 30 minutes. Botulinim Toxin is injected under the surface of the skin in the required areas. The injections are very small and thin, our clients describe the sensation as feeling like a pinch or a small scratch.

  1. How long does it take for results to show?

It normally takes 24-48 hours to see visible results. Here at Snowberry Lane we try to ensure results are as natural looking as possible so we encourage coming back for a review 3 weeks after treatment to ensure all is well and to top-up or adjust if needed.

  1. Are there any side-effects?

Bruising around the injection area is the most common side effect experienced by our clients. Some clients may also experience a headache following treatment, however this is normally gone within 24 hours. During your consultation we will go through the full details of side-effects and aftercare to help you make an informed decision.

  1. How long do the results last?

The results normally last for 3-4 months, so when considering this treatment please bare in mind that it involves attending the clinic 3-4 times a year (not including reviews), to maintain the effects.

  1. When do people normally start getting Botox®?

In theory the best time to get Botox® treatment is when you start to notice that lines from facial movements such as frown lines and crow’s feet are becoming more visible and permanent. This occurs at different ages depending on your skin type and lifestyle, it is also totally up to the individual to decide if and when they want treatment, there’s no concrete answer. Our advice would be to take good care of your skin, especially protecting it from the sun to help your complexion stay smooth for longer.

  1. How much does it cost?

Prices vary from clinic to clinic, please call us on 01225 700072 for our prices and any further information.
