4 Tips for Staying Safe While on Vacation

Vacation is a time where you can get a break from the monotonous routine. Your Vacation can be a fun-filled time allowing you to unwind, de-stress, and rejuvenate your mind.

However, if you don’t take safety precautions, your vacation can turn into a nightmare.

Here, you will learn about some tips that can help you to remain safe and have fun while you’re on vacation.

1. Protect Yourself from the Sun

You should wear sunglasses and put on sunblock (ideally SPF+50) to protect yourself from the damaging effects of the sun. Also, wear hats when you are outside. When you leave the car in the sun, you should consider covering the seat belts with a cloth.

In this way, your family members won’t get hurt when they sit in the car on a sunny afternoon. You should never leave a child alone in a car with the windows closed. The interior of the car can reach a dreadful temperature when the outside temperature is above 80 ℉.

2. Regularly Wash Hands with Soap

To avoid contracting a disease while on vacation, you should wash your hands frequently with soap. Never eat anything without washing your hands first. Here are some recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for washing hands in order to avoid spreading or contracting germs.

  • Open the tap to wet hands, and then apply soap.
  • Rub your hands together for at least 20 seconds.
  • Scrub both the front and the back of your hands.
  • Wash under the nails and between the fingers.
  • Rinse your hands with clean water.
  • Dry your hands using a clean towel.

In addition, you should always carry and apply a hand sanitizer when traveling. Hand sanitizers contain chemicals that can instantly kill germs on the skin. Using the sanitizer can reduce the risk of respiratory and stomach infections.

3. Avoid Using Your Phone when Driving

You should be extra careful when Driving. Never talk on the Phone when driving, even if you’re using a hands-free phone. Driving and talking on the phone is similar to watching movies and talking on the phone. You will miss important information if you’re trying to do both simultaneously. When you’re on the road, this can result in accidents. Avoid putting your life and those of others at risk by talking on the phone while driving.

4. Learn about CPR

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an essential skill that you should learn to ensure everyone remains safe during the vacation. CPR is performed on cardiac arrest and drowning victims. Every second count after a person stops breathing. Performing CPR greatly increase chances of survival of heart attack and drowning victims.

You can enroll in a CPR online class to learn about this essential skill. CPR classes online allow you to learn the skill at your own pace. This is an important skill that you should learn before going on vacation.
