Brookdale CEO Appointed to NIC, Nashville Healthcare Council Boards
Brookdale Senior Living (NYSE: BKD) President and CEO Cindy Baier has been appointed to the board of directors of two prominent industry groups.
With more than 1,000 communities in 46 states, Brentwood, Tennessee-Based Brookdale is the nation’s largest provider of private-pay senior housing. The company also operates 75 individual home health care agencies scattered throughout the United States, serving more than 15,000 patients a day.
Founded in 1991, NIC is a not-for-profit education and research organization that provides information about business strategy and capital formation for the senior living industry. As a member of its board, Baier will help to advance its mission of fostering access and choice in senior housing through an emphasis on data, analysis and connections. The board term will continue through Dec. 31, 2020.
Founded in 1995, The Nashville Healthcare Council is an industry association of more than 300 health care companies and corporate members. Health care is Nashville’s largest and fastest growing employer, with an overall economic benefit of more than $38.8 billion and 250,000 jobs annually, according to the council. Baker’s appointment to the council starts July 1 and runs through June 30, 2019.
Los Angeles Jewish Home CEO to Serve as Next LeadingAge California Chair
Molly Forrest, president and CEO of Los Angeles Jewish Home, has been selected as chair-elect of LeadingAge California, the state’s top advocacy group for non-profit senior living and care.
Founded in 1912, Los Angeles Jewish Home is among the largest providers of senior health care services in the Los Angeles area, serving about 6,000 seniors a year. Its community-based programs include Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), hospice, home health and palliative services, along with community clinics, short-term rehabilitation services and acute psychotic care.
Founded in 1961, Leading Age California offers advocacy, educational programs and public relations service to its nearly 600 member organizations.
Forest, who has served on the LeadingAge board since 2009, will maintain LeadingAge California’s mission as the state’s population rapidly expands in coming years, she said in an announcement on her selection. Forrest’s two-year term begins July 1, 2018.
Family Tree In-Home Care Names New Regional Director
Family Tree In-Home Care, a provider of private duty caregiving and nursing services in Texas, has announced the addition of Kelley Richard as its next regional director.
Founded in 2011, Family Tree In-Home Care is a home care agency with offices in Houston, Austin, The Woodlands and Clear Lake. The company provides private-duty home care and private-duty nursing serves, as well as disease management and senior transportation services.
Richard, who has more than 25 years of industry experience, will be responsible for operational excellence and growth initiatives for the home care company across its branches, including a soon-to-open branch in Denver, planned for August. For the past 12 years, Richard, also a licensed clinical social worker, has served as regional director of a national home care company based in California, managing businesses in Texas, Illinois and Massachusetts.
HomeCare Matters Picks New Executive Director
The HomeCare Matters Home Health and Hospice board of directors has selected Misty Taylor as its next executive director. Taylor replaces Bert Maglott, who previously held the position for more than three decades.
Ohio-based HomeCare Matters is owned by Avita Health System and provides hospice, home and wound care services to patients in Crawford, Morrow and Richland counties, as well as parts of Huron, Marion, Knox, Seneca and Wyandot counties. In addition to hospice, home and wound care services, HomeCare Matters also provides palliative care and grief support.
In her career, Taylor has worked as both a nurse and executive, most recently serving as the associate vice resident for Concerto Health Care Management in Ohio, Michigan and Illinois, where she was responsible for strategic development and the oversight of program activities.
