Egg Donation & The Miracle of Life

Egg Donation

What is egg donation?

Egg donation is when a woman donates her eggs to another woman who has been unable to Conceive. Over the past two decades, many fertile couples have been given the opportunity to conceive their bundle of joy from an egg donation. There are several stages in the process of egg donation to ensure a safe and legal way for couples to conceive. This journey can be rewarding for women who want to donate their eggs to help a family who is otherwise unable to conceive.

What can a donor expect?

The first two stages in the egg donating process include both the initial and medical screening of the donor. Once the donor has passed a psychological test, other tests conducted are for medical, genetics, sexually transmitted diseases, and drug/nicotine testing. Once all tests have been cleared by a doctor, a legal document will be drawn and signed by both parties.
Once all pre-screened testings have been completed, the donor will start hormonal shots that cause the ovaries to produce multiple mature eggs during a menstrual cycle. During the next stage, once the eggs have become mature, the donor will meet with the cycling doctor for egg retrieval.

Why egg donation?

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Protection, donor-egg IVF has the highest success rate of any fertility treatment. This means that women who are not able to conceive due to transmission of genetic diseases, poor quality of eggs, or a history of pregnancy failures are given the chance to experience the miracle of life. This new opportunity has opened doors for couples who have been experiencing the pain and let downs of not being able to conceive. Egg donatinghas aided in giving mom and dads the love they've been waiting for.
